The National Capital Chapter participated in the 2008 Hands on DC event with the other SEC schools. Hands on DC is an all-volunteer, nonprofit organization that conducts a yearly citywide work-a-thon to improve the physical condition of DC public schools, raises funds to support college scholarship programs for public school students and encourages greater community involvement in the public schools.

This year's work-a-thon took place on April 26, 2008, at over 30 schools across DC.
