Chapter Events - UA in DC

UA in DC is an ongoing program, sponsored by The University of Alabama Career Center, to bring interns and alumni together for shared interests.

A welcome reception and networking information session was held at the offices of Van Scoyoc Associates on June 16, 2009 from 6:30pm to 8:30pm.  We heard from Jonathan Lifland, a local Alabama alumnus and Media and Communications Manager with the National Academy of Sciences, who discussed ways in which interns and local alumni can build a viable network of contacts for professional development.  The reception was well attended by interns and local alumni.

The UA in DC program also includes an event in July sponsored by The Blackburn Institute where alumni living in the Washington, DC area share their experiences on living and working in DC.  Details on the Blackburn Institute event will be announced later.  As with the welcome reception, this is a free event open to all alumni, current UA students and their families.  For more information on The Blackburn Institute, please visit their website at www.blackburninstitute.org.

If you are interested in participating in the UA in DC program or know of a student that might benefit from participation UA in DC, please contact the Chapter Officers at officers@dcbamafans.com.
